Personal Care Aide

Entrusted Hearts Home Care by Baptist Village, a division of Baptist Village Communities offering personalized home care services, seeks personal care aides to serve at all Entrusted Hearts locations (Lawton, Oklahoma City, Enid, and Tulsa areas). Full and part-time shifts are available. 

Position Summary:

The Personal Care Aide (PCA) provides direct, compassionate care to clients in their homes by assisting with activities of daily living under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse or other qualified healthcare professional. This role supports client comfort, safety, and independence while promoting physical well-being and mental alertness. The Personal Care Aide plays an essential role in maintaining a safe, healthy environment and reporting changes in a client’s condition in accordance with the established plan of care, while supporting the mission and values of Entrusted Hearts Home Care.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, grooming, ambulation, and transfers, as outlined in the client’s plan of care.
  • Record and report vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and respirations, as directed.
  • Prepare meals and assist with nutrition and fluid intake, following care instructions.
  • Promote client safety, comfort, dignity, and mental alertness.
  • Observe, document, and report changes in client condition, behavior, or environment to the supervising nurse or appropriate skilled professional.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy home environment for client care.
  • Perform indirect client care activities in support of overall care delivery.
  • Follow basic infection prevention and control procedures.
  • Recognize emergency situations and initiate appropriate emergency procedures.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, family members, caregivers, and Entrusted Hearts team members.
  • Demonstrate efficiency, effectiveness, and dependability in providing care.
  • Respect clients’ physical, emotional, and developmental needs while maintaining privacy and protecting personal property.
  • Recognize and report changes in skin condition and other health concerns.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities as requested.
  • Support and enhance Entrusted Hearts Home Care’s image by maintaining a positive, professional attitude in all client interactions.
  • Perform additional tasks permitted under state law and assigned by supervision to support quality care.
 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Home Health Aide (HHA) certification required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Six to twelve months of experience in a client care setting preferred, with knowledge of basic client care skills and medical terminology.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while following care plans and agency policies.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and verbally report clinical information.
  • Must be flexible and able to set priorities as requests and needs of the client change. 
  • Must possess the ability to professionally deny any inappropriate requests while suggesting alternative solutions or immediately notify your supervisor.
